Thanks to all the players, coaches, and
management of the Las Vegas Outlaws for a great experience!
[ XFL and Las Vegas Outlaws Timeline
]
The Outlaws and the XFL are no more, as of May 10, 2001.
This is a great tragedy, as this was the best professional football experience
Ihave had in nearly 30 years of being a diehard football fan. The Outlaws had a loyal following here in Las Vegas, and home game attendance
averaged just over 22,619. Many people claimed that Las Vegas cannot
support a professional sports team, but the Outlaws proved otherwise. For
all the fans of the Outlaws and the XFL, this site is for you. The XFL did
well in other cities as well, and for places like Las Vegas, San Francisco, Birmingham,
Orlando, Los Angeles, and Memphis, the XFL was welcomed.
The XFL proved that spring football in the United States can
succeed. Football fans initially flocked to the league, but some were put
off by the WWF's marketing gimmicks. The WWF blundered in that they
thought they could bring in wrestling fans to support the league, but were
shocked and confused when they didn't; instead, football fans took interest in
the league, as most knew they would. How the WWF and Vince McMahon thought
they could ignore football fans and instead rely on wrestling fans to support a
professional football league is a mystery.
The XFL also provided a proving ground for its players,
coaches, and management. The players especially benefited from the league,
and many were able to have another shot at playing in the NFL (such as David
Diaz-Infante, Joseph Tuipala, and Kory Blackwell). Without the XFL, these
players never would have had the opportunity to get back into the NFL.
Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the XFL games was the
on-field audio mikes on players. This gave fans the feeling that they were
not only in the huddle but on the field, and experiencing the ups and downs as
well as the impacts of hits. It added an exciting dimension to an already
wildly exciting game.
The XFL has discontinued support of their websites for each
team. I have gathered significant information on each team and in time
will post memorial websites for these teams and the XFL as part of the Outlaws
FANatic Network. If you have anything relating to the XFL that you would
like posted or linked to, please let
me know! I will be updating this site and others over the next few
months as a tribute to the great memories that the Outlaws and the XFL left us
with.
This site is dedicated to all fans of the
Las Vegas Outlaws of the Xtreme Football League (XFL). I would like for
this site to be the ultimate resource for fans of the Outlaws. Here you
will be able to see photos of the Outlaws in practice, training camp, and
scrimmages; you can also find photos of the Outlaws coaches, staff, and other
employees. Notes from practices and scrimmages, tips when attending
practices and scrimmages, and general information on Sam Boyd Stadium (including
directions) are on the Info page. Rumors and speculations involving
anything to do with the Outlaws and the XFL are on the Rumors page. The
FAQ page has a link to the Outlaws' website as well as the XFL for your
frequently asked questions.
As well, I have been cataloging
links to not only the XFL Chat room (Sorry, but XFL Chat is temporarily
discontinued until I can set up a chat room to replace it), but also official statistics pages for the
Outlaws. You can find these on the Info page.
This site's purposes are to:
-
Promote the Las Vegas Outlaws
professional football organization
-
Inform fans of events, news, and other
items relating to the Outlaws not found on other sites
-
Preserve the
emotion and excitement that the Outlaws and the XFL gave us, however brief
NOTE: I am always trying to improve
this site to make your Outlaws experience the best possible, and I can't do it
without your help. Your email address and other information will be kept
private and you will NEVER be spammed from this site. Your privacy is
respected at Outlaws FANatic!
I try not to intentionally duplicate
information available on other websites; instead I try to make available those
things involving the Outlaws that are not readily available anywhere else.
If you find any information that may be duplicated or in error, please let
me know!
This site is not sponsored nor funded by
either the XFL nor the Las Vegas Outlaws; it is maintained entirely by the
webmaster at his own expense.
I have tried to design this site to load
as quickly as possible; if you have any difficulties with this website please let
me know ASAP. I hope that you enjoy your time here, and be sure to
bookmark it so you can check back frequently!
